5/18/07: Came to pick up my stuff from the barn, including my camper. Took all the boats out, assembled the trampoline, mowed the grass. The dogs are so happy here i feel bad that i have to take them back to VT.

7/6: A wonderful few days at the lake – kayaking, trampolining, counting & sorting cars, making music and bear watching!
Thanks! Henny & Lightning McQueen AKA Colin
7/7/07: Too short! I cut, split, and stacked wood. The dogs were happy. Gotta go back to VT to do some freelance work.

7/8/07: Nina, Mark, Isaiah (4 yrs) and Naima (3 mo.) were here for 5 days – Naima on her first visit to the lake. We swept out the treehouse and the stone steps, weeded the sandpile, wrote a story about Crocs sandals, and Isaiah and Mark went out in the paddle boat and went swimming. Lovely days! Back soon (we’re here from Ithaca).
7/19/07: Another wonderful visit with wonderful people – Isaiah, Ken and Joanne in this wonderful place. We heard calls of the common yellow throat – witchety, witchety, whitchity, the rattle of the belted kingfisher, the coo of the mourning dove, the burble – “Here I am? Where are you? Overhere” of the red-eyed vireo – and bowled in the hall, played a card game of …, Scrabble too with Ken having 2 7-letter words in one game. The tenderwing moth in the window entertained us. “Moth sugar” didn’t work. Time to go – I look forward to coming back. Thanks so much
Love, Donna
7/21/07: Thank you for a wonderful visit both ways on my journey to Chautauqua. I loved our walks in the woods – being introduced to a range of fern species, visiting treehouses & the big tree. – picking & identifying wildflowers – kayaking on the lake, visiting Joanne’s childhood home & the sawmill – Making … with Isaiah – seeing real nestlings, playing Scrabble and the recorder – and just visiting. A real delight! And the night sky was beautiful. What a lovely summer home – Thanks to both Joanne & Ken

8/4/07: Paul Wendy Nate Colin Casey & Lakota. Arrived 10PM Sun July 29. Departing 8:45 AM Sat August 4. Spent quality time with cousins Isaiah, Daniel & Thomas.
One day outing to Knoebels, 2 campfires, a little bit of fishing and one little fish. Lakota swam. Paul biked. Casey hiked around the lake. Paul & Wendy explored the back roads and found Berry Hill farm and the Crestmont Inn in Eagles Mere. One trip to the Rock Run swimming hole left Colin craving another. A busy week all around.

8/14/07: Although I don’t fly back to ABQ until tomorrow I have to leave today which makes me sad. However, the 2.5 weeks I spent were great this year. I especially had a lot of fun sailing in the Sunfish (which I’ve never done before). I hope to be able to come back again next year for more fun in Shunk.

8-15-07: ISAIAH
Naima, Isaiah and I are off to NYC to visit Aunt Sylvia after a wonderful few weeks at the lake (Isaiah was here for almost a month). We’re en route from Ithaca back to Providence.
Nina
8/16/07: Masha
I went on the kayak for my first time. We piked a lot of blak berrys but not menny blue berrys. I went in the woods by my self!
8/26/07: This trip marks a big turning point in the lives of many. As Pop markets and sells the flying book, he begins (significantly, we hope) work on the bacteria book. This is also the last summer the Japanese beetles eat freely without any predator (or killer poison). Gramma & Pop also get to send off their first grandchild to college.
I had another lovely stay and will be back next summer (maybe with new found friends!) and ready to relax once again. But, today, I leave for NYC and the next stage in my life. Thank you for letting me stay here, Gramma & Pop!
Adam, good luck – I’ll be up to ski this winter. Waco is calling…
Love, Charlie
